This poem is written on this backdrop. [bodytext] =>

To seek relief from the depressing urban existence,
I, once visited my native with great expectance,
To revel in Nature’s bounty and to relax in serenity,
That my hamlet unfurled in bewitching enormity.
One day in the warm morn, I strolled down in a reverie,
To places I haunted – my heart, pulsating with glee.
First to the incense-breathing jasmine garden nearby,
Where the balmy blooming buds greeted the passer-by.
When I reached the place, my heart skipped a beat,
On seeing the sinister Parthenium, I hastened a retreat.
Spreading all over the place, like malignant growth,
Alas, the tender jasmine meekly incurred its wrath.
Dispirited and disappointed, I turned impulsively,
Towards a meandering path, walking down pensively,
To another place - the farm spread exuberantly,
Where I spent my youthful days toiling fervently.
As I moved closer, wafted, an odor unbearably nauseatic,
Dark pools of water, a spectacle, unmistakably horrific,
Discharged effluents of a tannery, soon, I detected,
Once life sustaining, the land now stood aborted.
Disgusted, I climbed the stairs precariously perched,
To reach the lake up-hill that fed the lands parched.
The lucid expanse and lotus basking under the Sun,
It was a beautiful lake, where, we had a lot of fun.
Found, Hyacinth carpeting the whole lake; a willful neglect,
I returned, dismayed at the fate of my hamlet.
God, gifted the earth for the man to make a happy home,
Man, by desecrating it, hastened the impending doom.
. oooo0ooo
Note: Parthenium= a poisonous weed
Hayacinth =a water weed

This must have been a sad day for you..
"God, gifted the earth for the man to make a happy home,
Man, by desecrating it, hastened the impending doom."
These lines really jump out with the truth
Excellent write..and the imagery, although saddening was portrayed well with your words

Dear Mohan,
What a beautifully written poem, I must say!
It was a very sad, and disappointing day!
I did the same not too long ago, I returned to my old fishing hole.
Where once was a plain field of sunflowers
and a stream......has been build up as a mall, and the only stream I saw, was of people, going in and out! I turned and didn't want anything bought! Yes, you are right, our wonderful Creator had insight, he gave us this earthly home, to take care of, and cultivate. Can you just imagine as he views it now his heart will break! But He's a God of Love.....and man must return to the earth.,..very soon. If not Man will destroy himself....and that is the God's Honest Truth!
