Array ( [sid] => 2607 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => The Heart Collector [time] => 2002-08-22 10:47:54 [hometext] => I wrote this to, yes, the same girl just after I said goodbye to her for hopefully the last time. Just a breif explanation: She had what she called "Memory Boxes" that she kept for old boyfriends and anyone who was a major influence in her life. In these boxes she keeps letters, notes, poems, gifts, dried flowers, basically anything you give to her. Enjoy. [bodytext] => Here’s some advise for all you guys
Who treat girls the proper way
Don’t be tricked if they won’t commit
Some girls just want to play

There was this girl that I once knew
The girl of every mans dreams
She was so sweet, she was so innocent
Or at least that’s how she seemed

I tell you these words for one reason
Only to spare you from my pain
But, I’m sure if you ever meet her
You’ll be dieing to play her game

This may seem like a fictional story
But if you’re attached to your heart
Do your best to stay away from this girl
Or with it you will part

She was so beautiful to the eye
And so tender to the touch
Love her if you dare
But try not to love her too much

She’ll take you out for a good time
She’ll tell you her tales of woe
She’ll stroke your delicate ego
Till your feelings for her grow

But make no mistake; she’s got a man
Been with him for some time
I know you can treat her better
You’ll say, “I can make her mine”

She seems as if she’s an angel
Sent to you from above
You’ll treat her as she deserves
Surely you can give her real love

Her head is filled with dreams
Her eyes with so much desire
Don’t say I didn’t warn you
Deep down she is a liar

She may tell you that she loves you
Say all the things you long to hear
That it’s you she really wants
She’ll whisper love songs in your ear

But please don’t be fooled
She’s just playing her usual game
At the end you’ll have nothing
No glory, no fortune, no fame

You see, this girl has a hobby
Like none I’ve ever seen
It’s not painting and it’s not sewing
It’s just down right mean

She searches for unsuspecting men
And draws them to her web
Steals their hearts, puts them in boxes
And hides them under her bed

I don’t think it’s intentional
Maybe she does it without knowing
Still, month-by-month, year-by-year
Her collection’s steadily growing

I know, you think with you it’s different
For you, her boyfriend she’ll leave
What do I know, don’t take my word
Just ask her other best friend Steve

She took his heart too
And stored it with all the rest
Now he and I have something in common
The emptiness within our chests

The problem is, her games not for two
It’s played with three, sometimes four
She’ll lift you up then cut you down
And leave you helpless on the floor

Don’t get me totally wrong
Deep down she is a beautiful soul
But all the bad in her past, she holds onto
And it’s obviously taken its toll

I really think she needs these hearts
To help her through her days
She doesn’t realize she only needs one
If she gets rid of the games she plays

I know it’s hard to imagine
Though I’ve seen it with my own eyes
So many names on heart shaped boxes
Stacked in her closet, oh so high

You can still try, with all you have
But her boyfriend you’ll never be
It’s impossible to wrestle such a past
When you realize that, too late it will be

She may tell you you’re all she’s ever wanted
Her boyfriend’s definitely not
If he were she wouldn’t be looking
For the things he hasn’t got

She’ll spin you around, up and down
On a roller coaster you can’t stop
It can be exciting, but you’re starting to see
Roller coasters never end on top

She’ll give you a bit more of herself
If she sees you’re about to go
She’ll tell you she cares, give her time
She’ll say, “What you mean to me you’ll never know”

In you she’ll bring out the best you have
And even the worst at times
She’ll have you giving her flowers and gifts
Writing poetry and thinking in rhymes

She’ll give just what you need to stay
Not a bit more and nothing less
Don’t question her on the lies she’s told
For those she’ll never confess

You may think you can save her
Just as all the rest of us do
But once you’ve fallen so deeply in love
Who will be there to save you?

If you can muster the strength to leave
She’ll have you believe it’s your doing
She’d sooner have you by her side as a friend
An eternity of misery, just stewing

She’ll take no fault for it ending
You’re the one who walked away
She never said you have no chance
Only with him she’ll stay

Now she has you wondering
Should you leave or keep on trying
I tell you to go or once more
You’ll be left alone in bed, crying

If you do manage to get out
Be prepared to take the blame
The last thing she’ll ever do
Is admit she lost her own game

Remember, I told you not to play
But take my heed you did not
And now your heart too, is under her bed
In your very own heart shaped box

I know, she stole your heart
Like she’s done to so many before
Took all you ever gave, returned nothing
Till you could stand it no more

Like all the rest of us before you
Maybe she’ll come back, you’ll say
If she does, be extra careful
It’s another round; she’s looking to play

She feeds off the love you give her
And all the thoughtful things you do
She’ll tell you anything to make you stay
But she’ll never leave him for you

You should have listened to the advice I gave
But instead you went your own way
Like everyone who came before you
The same words I know you’ll say

You’ll scream in the night, “I still love her”
But did you ever wonder why?
After all the pain she’s caused you
After all the tears you’ve cried

The answer to that’s so simple
Believe it cause it’s true
It’s because your hearts still under her bed
And she’ll never return it to you

She is a collector of hearts and souls
Quite possibly her only flaw
But you still believe the look in her eyes
You swear it was true love you saw

Though I warned you, don’t feel the fool
Sometimes I still believe that look too
Like me, now you’re left wondering
Could it ever have been you?

She told me she was in love with me
Even after all the lies, I believed
Then once again she changed her mind
And once again I’d been deceived

I know what you’re feeling all to well
Because I still feel the same
One day, like me, you’ll come to question
Was it really love or just a game?

And like you I still love her
How can I not, she has my heart
But she still has all the games too
She’s got them down to an art

I’ve done my best to move along
But with her, my thoughts stay
For the dream that I once saw
Every night, I long, I hope, I pray

To be honest, I’d play again
I’d let her back into my life
Under all this she’s beautiful inside
I’d still have her for my wife

So that’s the story I have for you
Please believe it if you can
If you happen to find yourself alone with her
Don’t be one of those unsuspecting men

yeah that's my story... just say he instead of she and it flows perfectly. but, trust me, if you sneak in while she isn't looking you might steal your heart shaped box back ;) the pain eases with time... I'm in the dull ache stage myself... I keep thinking maybe it'll go away entirely... *~sigh~* but such is life.

woah that was looooooooong, but very good. like the rhyming and stuff...pretty niffty. hehehe i have something like that, but its from all of my friends, so not that bad of a thing eh? but hey true love is a false illusion. love might also be. but hey its a flight we all must take. better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all. lol. well good write. later.
peace out
