That I should think about
How perfect everything was
How bad everything is
And how horrible everything will be

And the other part of my heart is telling me
That I should think about
How I was dependent on you
How I need you now
And how I will long for you

And if this is the end,
Which I think it might be,
I want you to just know
That I’d never lie to you
Even if I could
And that I’d give up everything
If it’d help you somehow

And if this is the end,
Which I think it might be,
I want you just to know
That you always came first
In front of my friends
In front of the rest of the world,
Even in front of myself

And I guess in a sense
You know all that
You know I’d give up everything
If only for you
And you know you came first
In front of everyone else
And that means something; doesn’t it?

And all I ever wanted
Was for you to care about me
Whether it be as minimal
As you making sure I was alive
Or as extreme
As you standing up for me
When I was too afraid to myself

And all I ever wanted
Was for you to know I was there
Whether it was just at least
A “hello” in the hall
Or as great
As an afternoon alone together
When nobody else would even speak to me

And I guess in a sense
You did do all that
You did care for me,
Even though you might not have intended to
You did spend time with me,
Maybe because I was the only one there
But that still means something; doesn’t it?

I hope it does
But then again,
What do I know? [comments] => 1 [counter] => 161 [topic] => 52 [informant] => Schnikes13 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 4 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => goodbyepoetry )
