Array ( [sid] => 25743 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => THE SCARLET LETTER [time] => 2003-10-25 13:20:06 [hometext] => I wrote this for my new husband, while he was going through a very trying, stressful time. It was a time where he was looking to me for strength and I was being selfish and pitiful, just wanting it to be over, but at the same time wanting him to be OK. [bodytext] => It’s not so easy to stay uninvolved
I just hide behind my poetry
Running away was your method
I see it’s my method too at times
But it doesn’t seem to soften
The occasional suffering I feel
It just hurts all the more by myself

When wonderful and dreadful September
Came and went, October too
On and on to here in June
I thought of my issues and thought of myself
When it is you who bears it most
The clandestine burden, the trepidation
And you who may wear the “scarlet letter”

I need you to know you are essential to me
If there is no opportunity for us
It will be the stark beginning
Of my slow and guilty demise
Like smoke that drifts
Across the invisible air
In a slow rolling motion
My mind, body, and soul
Would tumble in the cross winds

Ultimately this will somehow pass
Life will go on and this will all be
Something to help discover our strength,
A lesson to learn from in the face of it
Here and now, find strength my love
In the hope for what is yet good to come
Joy in veracity, sharing in one accord forever

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
