The world is round and I told you so,
I know people studied all day and all night,
And still think it's possible for kites to have flight.

There are those who believe you can switch on a box,
And voice will come out..knock you out of your sox.
And the best one yet which was said by some 'wheels',
They have wagons now they call automobiles.

Now, don't get your hopes up..too much of a bummer,
They have this chest which is cold in the summer.
Forget shoveling coal, a deed that has passed,
You turn on a switch and get heat very fast.

You push in a button on the wall with a screw
It's hard to swallow, You'll doubt that it's true
The best one of all, you believe what I say,
All of a sudden the room's bright as the day.

Our country grows bigger and here's how you know
The Louisianna Purchase is part of the show,
Fourteen states will be carved from the land,
And Sousa will play with his marching band.

Next year, we should live, we're going to see,
Inventions and things, who knows what they'll be.
We'll down the Missouri, by stud or by mare
To the nineteen hundred four..St Louis World Fair.

Wow Norm, this was a little different than your usual,
I mean in form, Norm....
I loved this poem. History, and rhyme and time, and all those wonderful things no one could have even imagined but the inventor himself!
Now they tell me they have a camera
you place on a shelf, and while you computerize others can see you do so with their own eyes! And telephones that do the same....Oh, My, I would hate to say my goodbyes....but I'll be glad to go when they have cameras that show everything about us in our own homes, without us to know!
What a great poem, keep up the good work, one day you may be as good as this clerk!

Oh c'mon norm ya gotta play fair
I can'get to your beautiful fair
I can-not ever afford the fare
No way can I ever make it there

My visits out are getting rare
I'm in deep trouble I declare!
I'm writing con-tro-versial fare
and calming people (There there there)

Still I owe you a decent visit
so here we are like this one is it
Seems you're going strong old pal
I'll have to change my name to Al

Gee, Norm, I always wanted to write a poem like this,... that would tell history in an entertaining way,... and without volumes of pages. I think its great, loved it.
