What Will I Do Today?*

Contributed by Glo on Tuesday, 21st October 2003 @ 08:36:35 AM in AEST
Topic: ChildrensPoetry

As I awake to the morning sun........
Thinking to myself.....there's so much to do,
Brush my teeth, get dressed, and tie my shoes.

I go to the table to sit and eat,
And think of all the friends I'lll meet.......
When breakfast is done, I go outside to see all that I can see.
I see all the children waiting to play, just like me.

We climbed that Big Old Oak Tree..........
Knocked down a hive.....and were chased by bees.
We played kick ball, baseball, and football too.......
But we were thirsty for more, more fun things to do.

Next came tug-o-war and crack the whip.......
Good thing we all brought our water jugs,
Because we had to stop and take a sip.

After taking a drink of water, we were off again to play.
By now we were all wound up, yelling and screaming......."let's play!"
We decided to pick a leader, his name was Ray.

Ray didn't care if you were Black, or White, big, short or tall,
All he saw were Children, and fun.....fun for all.
We were all having so much fun, not one of us noticed the Setting Sun.
A sure sign that our day was done.

Ray made sure everyone got home,
He never let us walk alone.
He was the biggest of us all...................
Not just big, but also tall..

I went inside to sit and rest awhile......
Ate my dinner, took my bath, and said my prayers with a smile.
I said thank you Lord for all my friends,
And thank you for today...........
Can't wait for tomorrow to come
So I can go outside........................
And have more time to play.

Oh To Be a Child Again!

Oh to be a child again is right! My favorite quote- (I probably will get it wrong but.....) "Life was so much better when clothes didn't match and all boys had cooties." Don't know who said it, but I heard it from a friend. HOW VERY TRUE!

Love Joy and Peace,
JBP
