He touched them, touched them all and He reached out,
Shunned not disease nor odd deformity,
He touched and put contagion’s scourge to route
And empathized with human misery.

He neared, he touched,- a thing so unheard of,-
The leprous wretch and the tubercular,
The most repellent sore He touched with love,
He touched the most repugnant sufferer.

Unheard of touching throbbing virulence,
And nauseating materiality,
He bent and stooped to human indigence,
And touched with tenderness infirmity.

He dwelled and walked amidst the endless tide,
Of human suffering and wretched pain,
He touched the putrid sores and smelled the blight,
Made the disturbed in spirit hale and sane.

Some of the sufferers had long forgot
All sentience for touch and tenderness,
And other sufferers remembered not
The balm of an embrace or a caress.

Disease’s flail and scourge is unwelcome,
Except ’mongst those yet more unfortunate-,
He uttered never a proscriptive ban,
Did not recoil, evade nor separate.

Unheard of by the rules societal,
And regulations of the priestly code,
Without reluctance Jesus touch them all;
Oh blessed outcasts loved and touched by God!.

Simply beautiful write. Jesus was the human embodiment of love and compassion, yet also He was humble. I love the topic of this one, as it is so very true, and said well. You have a very descriptive style, I really like it. Excellent job, and keep The Word out there! Don't give up!

God bless,
Jellybellyprincess

ED,
So wonderful to continue reading you.
Your picture of God's son in my mind,
is a blend of kindness, he was so fine.
EXcellent poem, enjoy the words you chose.
And then to think he went even further for us to lose!
He gave his life.....giving his life for all those on death row!
He died for the sick, and sinful....not even for dough!
Beautiful work of art!

Wow. That is absolutely beautiful. I'm not even Christian, and yet that touched me deeply. Wonderful. Keep up the great writing!
