The closest bond of friends
They treasured each other, would give up the rest
To be with their pal til the end

Now it’s not so, for something went wrong;
A crime beyond mention, and a friendship so long—
All was lost to the sands of time, and whisked away by fate
The camaderie that will never return,
The regret for the cause—too late

One still goes oblivious, as he traverses his days
What crime he’s committed, which despicable way
The other trudges forward, with no knowledge inside
Unknowing of the trials he wrought for his pride

Ashamed to be seen, and too proud to regret
The friends of all friends, with both sides upset
One could not open, the other didn’t dare
And so came the end they sought,
A cause beyond repair

Solemn the felon, and worried his judge
But both were such persons
To leave it untouched
While one knows its too late, the other hopes on
—Hoping—wishing—
That someday he’ll get
The courage to move on
