Her life that no one knows.
Hands in pockets, head down against the wind
She’ll go anywhere but home.
She never cries, and never breaks
Although she feels as though she‘s already broken.
She never winces and she’ll never show
All the secrets left unspoken.
Memories flash before her eyes
She softly touches the bruises on her cheeks.
She blinks, washes the image from her mind
She can’t think about that, she is free.
She sees something in the corner of her eye
She ignores it and keeps on.
She knows she cannot give in now
She prays maybe someday everything will be gone.
A tear her cheeks has never tasted
She refuses to let it fall.
She refuses to reveal all she’s seen and knows
Refuses to give in to it all.
People laugh at her as she walks by
They know she doesn’t have all that they do
Instead of taking her arm to help
They laugh, spreading rumors, lies and truths.
One day walking her endless road
Something was in her way
She tripped and fell and closed her eyes
She didn’t get up that day.
All that was hidden remained hidden forever
As her life finally slipped away.
No one ever knew her or the life she had
And no one ever noticed she disappeared that day.
