Wasting a lifetime
Trying to find love
Nothing happens
No hope, no girl
Suddenly see her
But ten years before
Can’t do anything
Used to be friends, nothing more
Now realized affection
Can go no further
Lost a lifetime
And lost desire
Try to forget
But can’t
Try to die
But don’t
Mind suddenly gone
No end is near
Nothing to do now
But go on

Sometimes our priorities are in something that they shouldn't have been in. You spend a lifetime trying to reach that goal, and then you see the error of your ways too late. It reminds me of a short story- "Contents of the Dead Man's Pockets" by Jack Finney. It's a short story thats meaning is parallel to your poem, but the main character's priorities are in acheiving wealth, not love. But anyways, I think you might find that interesting. Great write, I enjoyed it.
Love Joy and Peace,
