Array ( [sid] => 24950 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => A year [time] => 2003-10-13 08:12:16 [hometext] => written on the first year anniversary that my parents split-up (2003) [bodytext] => Its been a year since we left that night
The night my life changed
Hands shaking
Tears streaming down my face
Heart racing
The decision to leave,
Was not easy nor was it hard
Staying strong was difficult
Keeping my tears to myself
Inside I was screaming for someone to talk to
Outside I was wearing a mask of happiness
No one knew what I was going through
No one noticed the change in me
My life was falling apart
I was left standing all alone
No longer do I take things for granted
That night my life faded
Photos and possessions meant so much
But not as much as feeling safe
Going home with a smile on my face
Selfishness has eaten him away
Now he must have everything
He has the house
He has the car
But he has lost his only daughter
Never will he treat me like he should
Never will I treat him like a father
He screamed at me too many times
Called me too many names
Words can hurt more than you think
When he kicked me I wanted revenge
The only pain was emotional
Emotional pain never goes away
I wonder why he hates me
Wonder what I ever did
He didn’t care about me
Only about his drugs
I was disowned by my own father
Sometimes its hard to think that he isn’t worth it
Im better off without him
If only these scars would heal

A very emotional write, I can feel the hurt you still feel, just remember it will probably never go away but it will with time ,just be an ache a constant reminder a the past hurt. I loved your poem it brought back to me feelings that i thought were long gone. And sometimes it's good to revisit the past hurts so you can see that you've moved along.
Bravo for the poem.
