[bodytext] => COMPASSION…(©Peter Sprenkeler)
Fellow-feeling…the genuine heartfelt sorrow, For the suffering others will endure. Totally selfless…tending warmer than pity, Oh such a panacea…a humanitarian cure. Why is it that humanity is so poorly endowed? With the awesome power of this trait? For it holds the key to unlock so many dilemmas, Of such treasure…imperative we investigate. Is there a way to promote…a way to grow? For it would eradicate so much pain. For when caring focus is fixed on another, Human wholeness occurs…on the world I wish it would rain. For compassion is the antidote to hate and revenge, An antonym of selfishness…a characteristic indeed so rare. Could I lay a bold challenge…ask of you some introspection, And ask…do you own some…and if not…do you care? For compassion is a quality so sadly in short supply, If you have any to spare…please cast it freely around. You may just find it will fall on a needy fellow human, Humanitarian seeds…the growth of which could truly astound. A tragic irony…such a need…so little to be found, Of human nature…compassion is indeed the 'gold'. For if every human had an abundant measure, Many sad humanitarian dramas…would see their epilogues told.
