she was walking along the shore and
happened upon a smooth stone.
picking it up, she realized it was glass, indeed
some part of galileo's telescope,
or a broken message in a bottle sent
by a pining lover. she stopped
to dream for awhile, fingering the
wet stone, then threw it back to the sea.

last night she dreamt of sea glass
smooth sanded sea glass
tears of angels upon god's bright shore
reminding us that amidst the grey sky stones
were some dipped in light.

...

sweet pacific
sweet salty pacific
how many dreams have
been cast into your depths
and rolled out on your shore?
