into your arms and out again
falling out of the bed and onto the floor
too much turmoil in my head
reaching for the light
not there where i thought it was
don’t want to wake you up
crawl across the floor
sloppy kisser
dog tongue on my nose
bang into the laundry basket
tip it over on the floor
out in the hallway, cold and dark
moonlight spills across the floor
casting silver shadows from the door
i see you move so gracefully
coming up the stairs to me
and here i am sprawled on all fours
my hair all tangled in my face
while you shoot moonbeams from your lips
so tasteful in dark blue tonight
and me in flannel – what a sight
and then the darkness disappears
and you are gone in that blink
“what the ---- are you doing out here?”
my darling bending over me
a worried look upon his face
“i had a bad dream” i say
he scoops me up in his arms
plants a kiss on tangled hair
then takes me back to bed
