I never knew that girl, although I could describe her face.
Its dark, and cold, full of hate.
She comes the the bookstore almost everyday. She sits, reads a book and then leaves. The same thing everyday.
One day she askd me for a particular book, one about drug abuse. "A project for school," she said. The girl sat in the same green armchair and read that book, front to back.
She didn't return the next day nor the following. It had been nearly a week when a co-worker gave me a newspaper clipping.
The obituaries; An unforgettable face, sad and dark.
Too many pills popped, to many words unsaid.
I cried that night. I cried for the girl, I cried for her family, I cried until my eyes burned.
I will never forget that girl. That sad, dark girl.
