Array ( [sid] => 23779 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => sammi [time] => 2003-09-25 04:35:00 [hometext] => on the fifth anniversary of her death - this is dedicated to sammi - our pet wolf, who lived to be 17 - sitting here like an idiot crying...
_________________________________ [bodytext] => so ancient and almost deaf, dragging one paw behind her
the gentle wolf still beautiful, so hard to say goodbye to her
we had become her pack, the four of us – she was the alpha of course
her high pitched song so haunting, perfectly sung in the night – i remember you didn’t want her, you cried all the way home because you didn’t get the dog you wanted. some huge thing, too big for an apartment in the city, so we got the baby wolf instead, not that, that makes any sense. but she turned out to be quite the pet, she loved the cats and mothered them. and kev walked her round the block twice a day and to the park - i taught her how to talk, a trick that always impressed your friends.
when the day came to put her down, it was just the two us, we were in a state of panic, clinging to each other in search of comfort when none could be found. it was over in a matter of minutes she was gone. silence wrapped around our hearts the only sound our tears falling, we could not talk. her picture hangs in the dining room like an important ancestor and her collar and leash hang next to it, in honor of her memory. we loved sammi unconditionally and she loved us
