He placed himself behin the wheel And said, "I'll see you soon, I've only had a couple of drinks, Don't worry, I'll be back in an hour or two."
He started the car And put it into gear I watched him drive and wave so long Watched him crack another beer
But the car was just too fast
He never did come back And we got the news that night I knew I shouldn't have let him drive Should have put up a bigger fight
I'm 17, I shouldn't know this This feeling of guilt, pain of losing a friend I don't like the crying, or being so lonely And I'm never going to let it happen again
So rest in peace my friend I know that I'm not going to Because you are gone and I have to live Knowing I could have saved you
