It allows him to make of you and me a fool
Like the linkage of Sep 11 and Iraq
That Bush now wants to take back

Bush yesterday:

'We've had no evidence that Saddam Hussein
was involved with September the 11th,'

Christian Science Monitor - March 14 2003

‘The impact of Bush linking 9/11 and Iraq’

WASHINGTON – In his prime-time press conference last week, which focused almost solely on Iraq, President Bush mentioned Sept. 11 eight times. He referred to Saddam Hussein many more times than that, often in the same breath with Sept. 11.

Yes linkage for a politician is a wonderful tool
Allowing him to make of you and me a fool
This strong linkage of Sep 11 and Iraq
Bush now wants to take back

But why say this now and not back then?
Well you know the ways of political men
It’s what works for them that matters most
The truth? In their mind it's just a ghost

Political truth is what helps you win
The other word for this is spin
Read today what Hans Blix says
The US and UK used every phrase

That manipulated your fearful mind
That made you mad and made you blind
Is this what you expect of the political elite
To twist the facts and guide your feet?
To fill you full of rage and grief
Then steal your conscience like a thief?
To manipulate your soul for their own ends
And say sorry later to make amends?
Is this the kind of men you trust
To lead your country as they must?
Will Bush take you to a better place
When the words he says are so two-faced?
And after he set all your hearts on fire
How does it feel to support a liar...? [comments] => 2 [counter] => 268 [topic] => 41 [informant] => Steeleyes [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => political )
