Doth light that shines, within tine eyes,
More vibrant than the sun,
Wouldst time be stayed or life dismayed,
Shouldst thou not be the one,

That god hast brought into mine thoughts,
And thus into mine heart,
To stay and thrive upon mine life,
Until that life departs,

Doth thou not see the breast in me,
Rise hard when thou art close,
Nor hear mine sigh as thou pass by,
As words lodge in mine throat,

Hark see mine bead of nervous sweat,
Burst forth upon mine brow,
And those who spake that I was brave,
Couldst only see me now,

For tis no battle, sword in hand,
Cry god for Harry here,
No castle walls, nor jousting stalls,
Inspire such a fear,

Tis but a heart, fair maidens heart,
That I seek to besiege,
It takes but a smile, a kindly word,
Why doth this trouble me,

I plot, I scheme, I hope , I dream,
Alas to no avail,
Mine heart cry’s out, not cry’s but shouts,
Mine love, but still I fail,

Alas, alack, to hell and back,
I’d ride at thou bequest,
For just a sign that thou art mine,
To ease mine savage breast,

I’ve fought in battles ,spilled mine blood,
And scarcely made a cry,
Yet in thou gaze, mine courage fades,
My mouth and throat run dry,

I long to glimpse thou ruby lips,
To touch thy milky flesh,
Wouldst give mine life, for but one night,
Held in thy warm caress,

Though horse and sword and armour plate,
Are all I’ll ever feel,
For maidens such as thou art dreams,
And for the likes of I not real,

Look at this face, both gnarled, and scared,
What maiden yearns for this,
What right hast I to catch thou eye,
Or even dare to wish,

That thou might see the love in me,
And perchance might feel the same,
Though too many strikes by jousting pikes,
Me thinks has jarred this brain,

To think that thou couldst love somehow,
A fellow such as I,
That doth joust and fight, till lifes last light,
Doth fade, and thus I die,
