You get mad & stomp away,
I'm not trying to be mean, you'll see,
one day Son you'll be thanking me,
When I say "No",theres reasons why,
So don't stomp off & start to cry,
You may not understand it all right now,
but someday Son,you will some how,
I tell you "No" you just cant go,
and the reasons you want to know,
You ask me why,the others can,
I just say,you'd never understand,
Its not easy being a mom to you,
but theres reasons on why I do what I do,
Now you will cry, and dont understand,
but you'll thank me son, when your a man,
I'm here for you,as I try to teach,
In hopes that one day it will reach,
Your mind is young & not wise,
being tough doesnt get a prize,
theres so much more you need to know,
Your parents are here to help you grow,
So when I say "No" as I do,
Please,Son know,Its because I LOVE YOU!

I love this poem Christina and he will understand soon enough. I wish the teens I had in my household would have heeded the word no a bit more wisely.

In your poetry maam there is simply the power of truth. The beauty of honesty and the passion of love in all of its forms. As a parent of four grown children I can without any hesitation say- This is simply one of the best poems I've read about a parents responsibilities as a parent and a friend..--Russ
