Going off on a tangent,
about nothing tangible.
Browbeating them into submission.
The believers line up,
to take their punishment,
from the bible that wrongly
you use as a whipping stick.
The stained glass windows
are smudged by the handprint of greed.
It is like a sideshow,
as the neon cross,
flashes out a subliminal message.
"Give and you will be forgiven".
The faithful fill the pews,
hungry for a morsel of hope.
Even if it means taking bread
from their own mouths,
to feed the collection plate

This is awesome I am a Christian but this is sadly true.
from the bible that wrongly
you use as a whipping stick.
That happens way to much I hope you can forgive whoever wronged you.

Peace,
Bobo (Joel)

to this day...in my little children's bible..lies a small list...written by a young child....a list of what to do while in church....count the pews...count the people...read the song book....count the stained glass windows....twice....i really loved doing that....the outside world looked so cool through those colors...not once..did that list say pay attention....even then, i knew they were all full of crap....love does not order to be obeyed blindly....only mankind.

this was perfect.....everything they touch is smudged by the handprint of greed.......

Lynn, Sorry to be so long getting here . You are right od the button with this one, it's chock full of quotable lines as the others have said.
I have sussed the way this religious thing works.....whenever leaders in the past wanted people to behave in a particular way they invoked a god or gods ''It's not little me that's asking, it's GREAT BIG GOD!
