The poet searches diligently
For words just right
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [bodytext] => To be a Poet
Tho I’ try to be a poet
No masterpiece will I write
Perhaps some will be decent
But most will be trite
Some people will enjoy
Some turn away
Some understand
Some hear what I say
But I aspire to become a poet
Who someday will begin
To write what is heard
Whispered within
Who touches others hearts
With tenderness and grace
Who inspires and encourages
Reveals contentment’s place
Who pleads the hearts causes
With passion and fire
Pursues love and peace
With fervent desire
Yes these passions rage
Within my heart tonight
And all that Is needed
Is a poet to write
Russ, you ars such a talented poet. I truly admire and enjoy all of your work. I think we all would like to produce a masterpiece some day, and who knows, some of us just might do it...but until then, we write because we enjoy it... Don't give up ever...
Hugs
Jenni
Great poem. You truly are a poet. I seemingly have the same problem. I feel as if all my poems are not the same emotion filled masterpieces like the great writers of years gone past. I feel at times I should give up writing all together. You poem is truly great.
Oh my I read all the comments and thought
That's not what a poet is al all!
A poet is one with a feeling heart, much imagination from the very start!
If we poets lived in a world where no one could read or hear.....we'd still write our poems and never fear, that no one ever read them nor could hear!
A poet never writes because he wants to move others, or make them feel like he feels...A poet writes because he has no other choice....It's a gift and if he didn't write...he couldn't rejoice. Every poem I've ever written since the age of 7, was a Masterpiece from the one that gave it! He read it, he inspired it, he gave me the gift! So as long as he can enjoy them, and you know that he reads them, and feels them....do you get the jift? He's the greatest poet of all.....and as long as you have the gift that he has given....give it back to him to enjoy!
I loved your poem Russ....but I know someone else that loved it even more...he thought it was a Masterpiece because he's very feeling too!
lovingcritters
Connie
P.S. If you always acknowledge him, you'll never be disappointed nor forlorn...He knew you'd be a poet even before you were born!
