Array ( [sid] => 22646 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => The Middle of the Seven Hills [time] => 2003-09-02 16:45:00 [hometext] => I wrote this sitting atop a hill in the middle of Worcester Massachusetts thinking about how much the town really does suck, but every once in a while theres a place with a little bit of majic attatched... [bodytext] => I am sitting in the middle of the seven hills
here i sit
just watching
watching the city
getting ready for dinner
with their families.
And the sun sets to my right
a beautiful gold
casting shadows
mysteriously on tall buildings
along the skyline which is
in my immediate view.
I am sitting in the middle of the seven hills
contemplating Rome
which was not built in a day
(people should pay more attention to that).
And someone once told me that life was not easy
but it seems to me
that i already knew that.
Sometimes its nice to hear it
from a different source.
I sit here in the middle of the seven hills
and wonder
is someone else is wondering too.
If someone else
has put their mind at ease.
I sit in the middle
of the seven hills
and hold on to the magic
that the wind carries
around me
that only the middle of the seven hills
seems to have.
And i think
if Caesar had the same problem
with the magic of the seven hills
because maybe
that is why he died.
But it is here
in the middle of the seven hills
holding memories
that i may carry with me
through my life's adventures
and perhaps even one day
Rome will be finished
and everyone will see
its glory. [comments] => 2 [counter] => 228 [topic] => 21 [informant] => AppleScruffs [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 2 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Lifepoems )

Great poem, but always remember every writer has a love/hate complex with where they live. It brings out the angst and joy in there writing. It allows the writer to daydream about other places to travel and distant times we wish to live. Wonderful piece of work!
