the list

Topic: HumorPoetry

went to sleep early
woke up at four
by the start of the day
i’d like to sleep more

but where to begin
there’s so much to do
i started a list, now
it’s quarter of two

prioritized and
Color-coded it
laminated and framed it
now where to hang it

but where are the nails
and the hammer too
just need the stepladder
and i’m almost through

now it’s well past four
list making done
almost time for dinner
better put it on

five-thirty now and
dinner all cooked
course, that’s not on the list
believe me i looked

ok kids come eat
then clear your plate
going on seven now
and the list can wait

time to sit outside
see the sun set
and watch the kids playing
till there’s no light left

bath time and stories
kisses goodnight
it’s nine o’clock now so
yep, turn off the light

four o’clock this morn
started my day and
still so much to do but
i’d rather get laid

(sorry, but it rhymed!)

go to sleep early
no list tonight
start over tomorrow
yep, sure i will, right!
