Array ( [sid] => 22209 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => The Poet's Lament [time] => 2003-08-22 08:25:00 [hometext] => How many of you poets have felt like this? Sometimes writing is the only thing that keeps our sanity above the boundless limits of ‘normal’. This was a teenager’s (me, many years ago) plea for something more than dolly magazines and romance novels. [bodytext] => THE POET'S LAMENT

Once as I lay in a dream far away,
I floated on petals of blue.
I awoke with a frown, and wrote it all down.
On paper my dreams become true.

I sat and I thought of the many I'd caught
As they fell to the page from the pen.
My life, so it seems, is lived only in dreams,
The realness is empty again.

I cannot ignore the fate that's in store
For me as I go through the stages.
Forever lonely, and love that's found only
In writing on these empty pages.

Maybe in time I will find one who's mine,
And then love may sow its seed.
But from now until then, I'll put it in pen
For more fortunate people to read.

THE POET'S LAMENT
