One rainy night
You see a shadow
Carrying a light
The person becomes clearer
As they get nearer
You hear the gravel squishing
Your heart starts to pound
With fear
For this place is haunted
And with every rain
Comes the spirit of an old man
Who everyone thinks insane
But as the man passes you
You get a good look in his eyes
And know that he’s not insane at all
For you can see past the old disguise
You see a child in a corner
While his parents physically fight
You see a man, rocking and crying
Holding his dead wife.
You see a vast no man’s land
You see your best friends shot and dead
You see a quiet funeral
For his five year old instead.
Suddenly you jerk your head
Stare into the old man’s face
A tear slides down his cheek
And by the rain is washed away.
The old man smiles sadly
Raises the light in his hand
He peers at you with desperate eyes
“Now you understand”

it is so sad that people never see through into the shell of the real person, instead they only judge. Thelma

if we could only have five minutes to quickly let someone see within us....feel what's inside of us every single day.....and allow us to do the same.....we might have a very different world.....
be proud of your work....great!!!!
