Thunder rattling the panes
Smoke fills the once clear sky
People trying to find the pieces
of their broken lives
What has the world done
What do they think they have fixed?
Freedom is what our country strives for
And now it’s down to this.

Broken hearts and broken dreams
It’s all you’ll find here.
We strive for freedom for the people
While locking ourself up, in our lives
And in our fears.
And so many people dead now, so many people now lost
Still can no one see?
That freedom isn’t free.

She looked into his saddened eyes
As tears fell down her face
The thunder cracked and lightening flashed
As he went limp in her embrace
Another life torn apart
Another soul wishes they weren’t alive
But we are fighting for freedom here
And that’s how it is justified

Broken hearts and broken dreams
It’s all you’ll find here.
We strive for freedom for the people
While locking ourself up, in our lives
And in our fears.
And so many people dead now, so many people now lost
Still can no one see?
That freedom isn’t free.

A soldier sits with his best friend
Outside their camp for the night
They’ve got to keep watch for intruders
In case there may be a fight
He speaks of his secrets, of his fears and of his life
He thanks God above for such a friend
With whom he can share his happiness or strife
The bullets then fly through the air
As he watches his best friend fall
But it’s alright, he’ll get over it
Cause freedom is what they’re fighting for.

Broken hearts and broken dreams
It’s all you’ll find here.
We strive for freedom for the people
While locking ourself up, in our lives
And in our fears.
And so many people dead now, so many people now lost
Still can no one see?
That freedom isn’t free.
