Taped and torn,
Hidden away from the world and she’s worn.
Clouding out is the fear inside,
An innocent girl should have nothing to hide.
Remembers his smell,
Remembers his taste,
As a single tear runs down her face.
Bound and frightened,
Poisoned inside and wondering why,
A slave to a captor,
Whose black heart had bled dry.

He whispered to her “you’ll always see me”
And she would, she’s opened.
He screams in her mind “you’ll always feel me”
And she would, she’s broken.

Scrapes on the knees,
Blood stains the ground,
Prays she could cry out,
But can’t utter a sound.
Tape covers her mouth,
And her lips wet through,
It turns out that nightmares,
Can sometimes come true.
Time rolls around slowly,
And she’s unsure of what follows,
Feels hate and feels dirty,
But mostly feels hollowed.
A creaking door lets the light seep in,
As a sickening touch brings her more pain,
Opens up a new wound,
And then pours in the shame.

He whispered to her “you’ll always see me”
And she would, she’s opened.
He screams in her mind “you’ll always feel me”
And she would, she’s broken.

Now he’s used her up and she’s emptied,
Taking a little more of her life from her each day,
And left her trapped there to be found,
Or perhaps to wilt and fade away.
She wants to peel away her skin,
It feels decayed and blackened,
She just closes her eyes sometimes,
And floats to the place where this couldn’t happen.
Though these scars are there for life,
Or that’s how it would seem,
Yet another soul has been shattered,
By hate and by bad dreams.
Yet a passer by had heard her cries,
Forced the door wondering what the noise could be,
After she’d given up over and over,
Finally she made it free.

He whispered to her “you’ll always see me”
And she would, she’s opened.
He screams in her mind “you’ll always feel me”
And she would, she’s broken.

Back home with support,
And the care of the people that love her,
But they can’t feel what she had been through,
Or know how much she had suffered.
Now locks herself away from the world,
Wishing that nothing was real,
Leaving her family crushed and weeping,
And not knowing how to deal.
Afraid to walk alone,
Cries and puts blame on herself,
Tainted inside to out,
An empty shell that mere words just cannot help.
Now she’s falling and she’s drifting,
Surrounded by burning rain,
Pained and living a life,
That she can never feel safe in again.

Every day she still can hear his voice,
She always would, although she’s coping,
Every hour she feels the hurt inside for others like her,
Who have been and will be broken.

Wow.. I don't know exactly what to say. This is very, very good. I wish nobody would ever feel her pain. That is just so sad. And the even more sad thing, is that this happens. I can feel her pain.

Now that I've read even more of your work I am disarmed by it. Your words are powerful, well-structured and image-evoking. And amazingly, you keep a rhyme scheme flowing freely through it like water. Truly wonderful work. Thank you!

In my work I come across this too often.
You have captured this in almost "still life".
Congratulations damon.

Usally When I See Any Writing About A Broken Heart I Can't Bring Myself To Read It Because I Get Tired Of Hearing Those Things. But This Was Different, The Way You Wrote It Had Me Interested Even After I Realized What The Subject Was.

Does it help to know that every single cell in the body is constantly being replaced. The shell that was you THEN that was defiled THEN has long gone.
Your mind was not reached. It is your citadel you can make it what you want.. do noty be sad, do not be afraid, you are as perfect as the day you were born.

I cried. I don't cry often. This poem is one of the best poems I have ever read in my life. On ascale of 1-10 (10 being best) I would give it a 12. Its excellant. I wish she hadn't felt pain, though. I wish no one does.

An impressive work of art. A true commentary on a horrific experience. But so vivid so close to home and well executed. The poetic existance is the constant reminder and the troubled thoughts and the descriptive details. My ex-girlfriend was sodomized as a child and her story was very much like the one written here. "Broken" couldn't have said it better....

at first i thought it would be one of those
feel sorry for me im the victim
kinda poems.
i know how very hard it is
to have gone through that
or to know someone who has.
makes you feel kinda helpless
towards them.
in any case it was an undescribable
piece of art. straight from the heart
where all art should come from.
much love to ya.

I could relate alot to the emotions of this poem and know quite well the feeling you expressed in this line:She just closes her eyes sometimes, And floats to the place where this couldn’t happen. I had to do this myself so i would not feel or know what what being done to me.

Very well written and I agree it hurts to know that this happens.>Every hour she feels the hurt inside for others like her,
Who have been and will be broken

This poem was great if for no other reason then it was powerful the whole way through.

The line that clutched my heart was

"An innocent girl should have nothing to hide"

That line caught me and pulled me in and then the meaning of the poem hit me so hard I nearly cried.

Now that is poetry.

This is such a powerful poem. I was sexually abused as a child so in a way, I can relate. I have often blamed myself but now I don't. I know it's not my fault. I've put it in God's Hands and now I feel free. Love this poem!
God Bless,
~Ashley~

Wow! This is very beautiful, I mean, it's so nice. I like how it seems so real on how people go through with something like this. I feel like I know this girl or something. It makes you kind of sad. Well, this is wonderful poem. Good job.

Powerful depiction of the ugliness and arrogance of those who break others. The most persausive argument for the death penalty for such scum! Excellent presentation.

It happens and yet I don't think anyone has written so intensely what it must be like to the point of feeling the fear and after effects. So well done.....you will help many to open up and talk about their pain. Thank you

Damn.

This is gripping, and terrifying, and so, so heartbreaking. The way you portrayed this, the words you used, they way you show how she feels, it's a brilliant piece of writing. And the repetition just makes it so much worse... it really adds to the write, the atmosphere of the whole piece.

I am so sorry that people go through this sort of thing. I will never understand how people could ever do these things to one another.

Good write, once again.
Phil xxx
