R. Dafremen

Fly away Mercury Bird, fly away
Why don't you fly?
Leave the disappointing earth
And chase the morning sky
The dawn that marks your way
Still shakes the cobwebs from your dreams
And by and by
The grim reality still makes you cry.

Don't believe them Mercury Bird, don't believe them
Don't you believe the lies
Don't believe there are no faery hearts
No glowing dragon's eyes
You know different my friend
Go the distance my friend
Embrace the wonderment
That filled your eyes before
You were so wise before
So like a child before
Seems like skepticism brought you down
You used to fly so free
In days gone by you see
Before they snuck up on your heart and tied you down.

Now fly away to find that rainbow's end
Fly away to find that outstretched hand
Which doesn't reach to snatch your dreams
The one that will not clip your wings
Or hold you here
Upon the gloomy ground
Won't hold you down
Someone to watch you soar
Until the evening's coldness comes along
A warm inviting heart
That patient, listens for your song
A love in which to stow your wings
Til starlit slumber brings the day
A place to rest
Until the morning's dewdrops
Call you out to play
A voice that gentle speaks the words
Which you have longed to hear them say
"I'll wait here for you sweet bird, now
Fly away." [comments] => 3 [counter] => 156 [topic] => 14 [informant] => dafremen [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => DreamsandWishes )
