WITH A LOT OF RESPECT FOR TRUCKERS AND THEIR FAMILIES [bodytext] => GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY
I JUST KEEP ON SHIFTING GEARS
MY WIFE IS STILL NOT USED TO THE TRUCKERS LIFE
I HAD TO LEAVE MY BABY AGAIN IN TEARS
IM SUPPOSED TO GET UP TO 3,000 MILES BUT THATS SOMETHING YET TO BE SEEN
HOME 2 FOR EVERY 7 TO 10
DONT KNOW THIS TIME HOW LONG I'LL BE OUT,
2 DAYS HOME
YEA ..... YOU JUST DONT KNOW HOW LONG THATS BEEN.
GOTTA STOP DOWN THE ROAD FUEL UP,
TRY TO EAT
CALL MY WIFE AND THEN TALK TO ALL MY KIDS
WHERE THEIR GOING TOMORROW AND HOW THEY HAVE ALL BEEN
TAKE CARE OF MAMA
DADDY LOVES YOU , ILL BE HOME SOON
MY WIFE SHES A SPECIAL WOMAN
THE CENTER OF MY LIFE
AND IT TAKES A LOT OF SPECIAL TO BE THIS TRUCKERS WIFE.
SOMETIMES SHE SAYS HER DAYS CAN BE UNBEARABLE
TRYING TO BE STRONG AND HOLD BACK THE LONELY TEARS
BUT THEN SHE'LL HEAR THE PHONE RING AND THANKS GOD FOR MY CALL
NO MATTER HOW SHORT THE CONVERSATION MIGHT BE.
AND SHE CAN ALWAYS LIFT MY SPIRIT UP WHEN SHE SAYS
BABY ROLL ON BACK TO ME.... [comments] => 10 [counter] => 199 [topic] => 38 [informant] => MRSB [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Tributes )

I am also a truckers wife. The days can be longer than long...the nights even longer.
My husband,Bill, works all he can. Lets face it...Uncle Sam does not make it any easier on these guys and gals.
I have drove some myself...it is not an easy job.
Excellent write...great tribute.
Have you read Shelby's "Stupid Trucker " yet. You should...it will touch your soul.
Sharon;)
