Hyperactivity and Social Anxiety
The thought has occurred to me
That the children of America
Have become medicated zombies

Imagine the future if you will
Children eating Ritalin like candy
No excitement, no chance of a thrill
They will not speak unless spoken too
They all think alike, as sheep often do

There will be no more music or books
No more poems to inspire
Paintings will no longer be given a look
Free thinking and freedom a fading memory
For the minds of the children we took

The future is most definitely bleak
No where I would want to be
The thought of this drains me makes me weak
I will not fit in, understand me they will not
I’ll probably be committed and labeled a freak

This poem is so true...society is so eager to place kids on ritalin and other drugs to "calm" them that it makes for a dull world....I think that children with these so called disorders just need something constructive to place their energy into then maybe they wouldn't be so destructive with it and people wouldn't be so eager to put them on the readily available selection of pharmaceuticals out there....

Ahhh nice to see someone share my thoughts...I have often wondered why doctors just don't medicate the adults and leave the children be. I believe that once upon a time, we expected kids to be hyperactive and parents were responsible for doing things to help them release their energy...and for feeding them fresh wholesome foods to help them grow. Now days, if it does not come with a wrapper, it just isn't dinner. Gone are the days of taking care...it is simpler and more soothing for all, to medicate the children.
Profound write.
Take care,
Sherry
