Please answer my questions
I really need to know
Are you here for the people
Or are you here for the votes?
Tell me what you felt
When they dropped the bomb...
Did you count the tears on the trails of blood
Or did you count the gold
Beneath the trails of mud?
Have you ever had to count pennies
To buy your daily bread?
Have you ever been stopped by red tape
When you tried to be seen as human?
I'm standing in line at the health clinic, watching...
Tired mothers shush sick children
Desparate people scrape change
In hopes of their medicine...
Social workers antagonize us for our lives
As if we chose it to be this way
We are herded like cattle
As they reduce us to statistics
Yet you say we have a voice here
I know our struggles are not your fault
But that doesn't mean you have to turn your head...
Can you please explain what you are here for?

Not all healers end up becoming doctors
not all visionaries end up as politiceans
usually those posts are occupied by impostors.
Well said, the job of the poet is to ask this question.

I agree with the above comment. It is a raw truth that most of the politiceans are imposters and power mongers....
This poem is well written.. I like this and appreciate you dear friend.. venkat

a very well written poem... im not sure if im right but you askin the politician is in like to asking anyone with power and authority what they do to better the lives of their fellow man... and the answer is not very many that have the power and authority to do so actually do... kara i find your hand creates and brings such truth to peoples eyes that we see but don't take seriously enough... your poetry seems to step up the urgency of everyday problems and dilemas... as do other poets on this site too... if only some 'politicians' could take some time and read these poems and see what truth that is spoken yet unheard...
very powerful write kara
