Array ( [sid] => 20787 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => The Years Went By... [time] => 2003-07-22 12:35:00 [hometext] => This is dedicated to my mom and dad, who today have shared 35 years together. Since I am so far away I wanted to show them how much they mean to me and how proud I am of them too. I love you mom and dad...Happy anniversary. [bodytext] => The Years Went by…

Thirty -five years ago today
One woman and one man,
Bound their love together always
Placing rings on each other’s hands
They stood before The Almighty One
Taking their vows together,
A promise made for a love they shared
To honour and cherish forever
“Mary, I take you to be my wife
To love forever more,
Never again shall I love another
For it’s you alone I adore”
“And Garry, my husband I take you to be
Through sickness and health, I do,
Never again shall I love another
From this day forward, only you”
Their vows were made, the rings exchanged
Sealed with a kiss for life,
Hand in hand they stood together
Forever now as man and wife

And the years went by…

From a dream they shared of family life
Four children they brought to this world
To nurture and love as they had each other
First three wonderful boys, then a girl.
They gave them all the best they had
Everything that they possibly could
Treated them equal, loved them the same
In the way that all parents should.
Dad taught them to fish, fixed their cars, gave them love
All things that a father should do,
He never once said he didn’t have time-
A father that they could look up to.
Mom wiped their tears, cleaned their knees, gave them love
Everything that a mother should do,
She never once raised an angry hand-
A mother that they could look up to
Through trials and tests that the four put them through
They still gave them a hand to guide,
And through their love they now could see-
A family that filled them with pride.

And the years went by…

Though they are older, their children now grown
All look up to them still today,
For they were the ones that brought them this far
By showing them love everyday.
Now little voices fill their ears once again
And Grandma and Grandpa they are,
A family still close, though bigger it seems-
Even though some are near, some are far.
Those vows they took so long ago now
Still remain in their minds and their hearts,
So much to be proud of, so much they have done-
They could not have done it apart.
They only hope now that the lessons they’ve taught
Will live on in their children somehow,
And surely they will for the love they instilled
Will be passed on to their grandchildren now.
Mom and Dad we all love you, more than you could know
And be proud of all that you’ve gained,
For the example you’ve shown and the love that you gave
Will always and forever remain.

And the years will still go by…

Thank you Saira... I know it's long winded so thank you for making it to the end! (I've never been known to be concise lol!)I have been lucky enough to be gifted with two wonderful parents, and although I am all grown up now I'll always be their little girl :)
