Array ( [sid] => 20600 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => The Roots Of Honor [time] => 2003-07-18 00:45:00 [hometext] => this is a poem that i did after i watched some pretty nausiating stuff and heard about people getting away with rape and innocent people in jail! [bodytext] => The roots of honor
Where is the honor we hold in the stripes and the stars
That tell us where we are from and who we are.
How can we hold honor in the flag
If we can’t mold our selves together as a nation.
Justicity is what we fight for
But how can we fight for justice if we
Have innocent men in jail and guilty men walking the streets.
Mothers murdering their children and fathers leaving them behind.
Memories are forgotten and hero’s are left back in time.
People that once mattered so much that held respect and honor
Are now the people we are so terrified of .
Children are no longer allowed outside in their own yard alone.
Men kidnapping children from their homes and making
Family members worry and wonder for their safety.
Racism, discrimination, hatred, tragedy
In the world only brings grief and deceite.
The infamous day of September 11th should be a reason
To be held together not only as a nation but as a world .
We suffered heartache and loss
While across the world people celebrated as if it were a holiday.
Children left without a mother or a father.
Family members shed tears together.
Sisters that once hated each other are now the best of friends.
Families torn apart and men and women
Long for their spouse.
Feuds between races and religions.
Memories that were once happy turn cold
Food once fresh starts to mold
Suicide and depression is what we put our selves through.
Girls once happy with who they were and who they are
Are told they are not good enough by the people their own age.
Everyone says get over it and move on with your life.
As those young girls and boys move on with life
You know it hurt deep down inside.
Perfect teeth and perfect bodies and faces are what
We see on television and magazines.
I know its not real and no one is perfect but some people don’t
Parents pushing their children too hard to the top
Children crying in bed alone at night.
Because they are hurting and no one is listening
So can you look me in the eyes and tell me
Are we one nation under god
Or are we one nation torn apart under god, divisible, and injustice for all.

What a wonderful powerful, thought provoking write, Eternity. You are such a thinker, and you have a great way of putting all that down on Paper!
All the things you say are true of course..we are living in critical times, and the only person that change is you. We must be very careful that we, ourselves are not contributing to the down of mankind. Your Poems says it all. You are very talented!. I enjoyed this poem very much. You have a very ineresting voice....contonue to speak up...it should be heard!
And thank you again fo your kind comments on my poetry.
