Array ( [sid] => 20494 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => Things I Will Never Forget [time] => 2003-07-16 01:25:00 [hometext] => This poem was dedicated to a friend of mine who I thought would always stand by my side. He was there through thick and thin, and now he has left my side and is getting married. I wish him all the happiness in the world. [bodytext] => My heart yearns to be close to you
Yet you are so far away
Our worlds have split apart
Into something I no longer know
We shared something that was so precious to me
These are things I will never forget

The way you smiled when you looked at me
Those bright blue eyes the color of the ocean
The way your gently caress could soothe a terrible day
The way your voice flowed like the wind
Those days are so far behind
These are things I will never forget

The first night we spent together
The gently night breeze surrounding us
The crickets chirping and the frog down by the pond
I remember that special place
Where nothing would bring us apart
These are things I will never forget

The first time you went away was the hardest
No thoughts in my mind could bring you back
You did come back though, stronger than ever
Things just weren't the same
The strength and courage in your eyes wasn't there
These are things i will never forget

You became more independent
You no longer needed someone to push you forward
You wanted to be on your own
I gave you that space and you took advantage
We did our own things as we once had
These are things I will never forget

After a while you found your way back into my heart
I was more than willing to accept you
We spent every waking moment together
Catching up on times that were lost
Best friends together again
These are things I will never forget

The next time was harder though
This time there was nothing I could change
You went to that far off place
Where even I could not come to visit
You still wrote every day religiously
These are things I will never forget

So much has changed now
You're free to live your life
You've found someone new to cherish your every word
Your happiness means so much to me
I too will someday find that happiness
The happiness that we once shared together
