R. Dafremen

Smile a smile for remembrance
Just a moment's expressive beauty
To last this heart a lifetime
For should the fates deem unworthy
My meager, lover's offering
Should time rebuke with distance
One soul's devoted longing
That vision of your happiness
Sweet dream but briefly realized
Shall with this moment's memory
Through the lonely years sustain me. [comments] => 6 [counter] => 201 [topic] => 2 [informant] => dafremen [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => LovePoetry )

The thought and feeling expressed is simply beautiful
the meaning flows but the poem does not, which is ok.
But it would so much more if it could find tempo.

I agree. It was a poem that I wrote trying to emulate the style of a very beautiful poem I found while browsing through a book at the Goodwill store. I didn't buy it. Not sure why.
I was broke probably, or got distracted : ) The poem was in the classic style. An oldy but a beauty in my opinion and my attempt to emulate it was probably as meager in comparison to the original as the lover's offering in the poem. I bet we had one thing in common though, we both gave it our all. I don't think anyone that has the courtesy to take time out of their life to read my stuff deserves any less than the very best I have to give. Their gift is certainly more precious than mine.
