in the forest at night
The dove sings
in the morning light
My love will return
when the birds take flight
or she'll never return at all.

If she doesn't return
my heart will yearn
I'll be forced to take shelter
after I learn
where my problem lies
In women's eyes
'cause she'll never return at all.

Let's face the fact
I'm lacking in tact
Not all that I lack
Is strung on a rack
I may never know
wherever to go
To make her return in the fall.

I told you the tale
No wonder I fail
I'm willing to hail
A swift monorail
to take me to her
wherever she be
She may never return at all.

Listen, my darling
you sure ken your own
I gave of myself
muscle and tone,
I gave my beloved
my heart and my head,
If she doesn't return I'll be dead.

I like the imagery you used in the first 2 verses I can feel the passion you feel for your love and despair it brings, very good poem.
