Array ( [sid] => 19618 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => Another Time [time] => 2003-06-27 04:05:00 [hometext] => I fought many demons over this one - a time in my life when I was at an all-time low. Strange how terrible deeds can sometimes be a saving grace. I finally told the police, but he was never found.
[bodytext] => ANOTHER TIME

The night it was dark, the moon it was nil.
The stars they were dim, the wind it was still.
The shadows disguise the form that I bear
As if I were darkness's underwear.

The blackness is thick with a deep sense of dread,
While I try to arrange the thoughts in my head.
I am hidden from view by the trees where I lay,
And the strangers walk past me and shuffle away.

With interest I watch as a bush changes shape,
To become a young man in a dark coloured cape.
A brief flash of steel - I hold back a scream -
For its victim is near: I cannot be seen.

In silence I watch as the arm swings around.
The knife strikes the flesh, the mark has been found.
The killer walks on, leaves his litter behind:
Blood stains the grass, the scene stains my mind.

With ideas of suicide I came here tonight,
But now I can't do it, now it's not right.
Neither killer nor victim shared the pain that I hide;
But I watched as one killed, and I watched as one died.

Well written, my husband witnessed a fight in which a man was killed, it left him scarred for a long time. I am glad that you chose life though.

wow, pretty intsense poem. The part about darkness's underwear seamed almost comical for a not comical poem. Otherwise pretty well told story.
