Give sight to our eyes, Sight to our bodies, so they can see! May we see the world as a whole and in detail O God, verily a hundred autumns lie before us Within which you cause the decay of our bodies Within which the sons become fathers Don’t break in the middle The course of our fleeting life! O adorable Lord, let not my thread of life be broken While I am contemplating on your glory Nor the measure of my work is cut out before the time. Break not O God our ancestral loving friendship Being one with thy deep knowledge and a sage Like the over spreading cloud, old age impairs the form Before that evil comes near, protect me! O God, may we be ever youthful in thy friendship! May you lengthen our days on earth So that we may live in thy friendship Give freedom for our bodies! Give freedom for our life!
