night
When everyone’s in bed.
I lay back on my pillow
And rest my weary head.

Night presses on my window
With no stars to pin it back.
Merciful sleep engulfs me
Bringing me the peace I lacked.

When I open my eyes once more
My spirit’s in Dream Land.
Beside my stands my friend,
Who smiles and takes my hand.

We walk beneath a cloudless sky
‘Midst flowers small and fair.
Cheerful birds trill lovely songs
And joy is in the air.

All my fear and troubles,
My sorrow and my pains
The scars received throughout my life
Vanish with my tearstains.

My heart is filled with only joy,
So pure, so fresh and sweet,
Happiness flows through me,
Every time my heart beats.

A river, cold and sparkling bright
Runs through the fields and trees.
The forest whispers secrets,
It’s tongue found by the breeze.

We soon are joined by other friends
We frolic and we play.
And oh, I wish with all my heart
That I was here to stay.

We run all through the meadows,
We splash through crystal streams
We climb the tallest trees
And try to catch sun beams.

But as the dawn draws near
Within reality,
All my friends must leave once more
And say farewell to me.

My closest friend stays with me
‘Till the moment that I wake.
And I know, due to a feeling
That we won’t have long to wait.

His eyes are filled with sadness,
A window to his heart.
He knows the same thing I do,
We soon shall have to part.

My heart is filled with sorrow
‘Cause I know what must now come.
I’ll return to reality
And face my troubles alone.

The Dream World fades around me
As I start to leave the place.
Just before I wake I see
His sad, but smiling face.

I dread the very thought
Of getting out of bed
Just to face the world alone,
I’d rather dream instead.

The sun outside my window
Is warm and shining bright,
But I know of a better place
With a much warmer light.

A breeze blows through the trees outside
Bending their branches lean,
But I have known of a fairer wind
And seen trees lovelier green.

I must now, go through my day
And fight my daily fight,
But I shall go to a fairer place
Within my dreams tonight.

Dear DreamCatcher,
This poem has a lovely theme. I really admire some of the phrases, 'Night presses on my window with no stars to pin it back', 'The forest whispers secrets, its tongue found by a breeze.' Quite beautiful! bizzy
