Heat eminates from her body, enhancing her perfume
A crowded cocktail party,on a steamy summers night
As she wishes to be alone with him, lost in candlelight
Shyness creates the distance,as she stands there all alone
Wanting to get closer, but afraid of the unknown
Many faces before her in a sea of flowing colours
Yet the one she longs to touch is surrounded by the others
As he moves throughout the party, she looks on admiringly
Laughter fills the space of wherever he seems to be
Her breath is taken for a moment and as he passes by
It returns to touch her lips in a soft and feathered sigh
The yearning to be near him,to reach out and touch his face
To shed her inhibitions and create a moment to embrace
She knows that someone like her would never cross his mind
For she is not a total fool, just the dreamy romantic kind
Many young and beautiful women in this room where she stands
Their beauty way beyond compare, she would never have a chance
Her champagne glass half empty, symbolic of her heart
Missing all the dizzying bubbles, the more exciting other half
Taking one last wishful look, she adoringly looks his way
To find him looking back at her, upon his mouth a smile plays
Blushing now she drops her eyes, and knows not what to do
As his eyes she feels upon her and seemingly seeing through
To all her inhibitions and her every sensual fantasy
She prays oh GOD "Please be kind and help this man to see"
"Past my aging face where beauty has faded so with time
Into my heart and soul where love resides in rhyme
Lyrical and melodic, yet forever it's gone unheard
Please let him hear this heart and every unspoken word"
Something warm and gentle touches on her hair
Her eyes now slowly look up to find him standing there
So close to his body, she's left breathless without speech
It's then he winks and places a soft kiss upon her cheek
Offering out his hand, she accepts through misty eyes
As he leads her to the dance floor, everybody sighs
Moving ever closer, bodies close and cheek to cheek
They dance until the morning light, neither of them speak
For there is nothing to be heard,no words could express
