Along with the many fading into my dark alone
Remembered fully now as your pitiful chosen son
Releases earth/'/s dust to drift down below your stone

Even contrived, all the empty affections received
Escape and dissolve into that deepest silence
How very sad the thoughts of a child deceived
Heartless melancholy became his life sentence

What could I have given for a mother/'/s loving caress
While crying there with only scars and fears
So sad the child whose love was easy to dismiss
Sorrow paints memories of this child/'/s hushed tears

Gone are the maggots of confusion eating this child/'/s heart
Grief ends ultimately with this handful of dirt I drop
As old as he became, he now receives a brand new start
All the false hopes of not being despised may finally stop [comments] => 4 [counter] => 116 [topic] => 39 [informant] => reprobate [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Grief )

I guess it/'/s not like Bob Hope used to say,
"thanks for the memories"
And he would sing this in front of troops who were not far from battle in the Vietnam War,
and they would all go nuts, high on drugs to escape the
pain, most of the kids... what a ruckus, what a show...
And old Bob would be carrying a golf putter, and be dressed as if he just came off the back nine at
Pebble Beach --- while most of these kids came from poor families and had no idea where that was or even cared.

Wish you the Best!
Peace!

Damn. This is like a glimpse into my future with my father. Thank you for sharing this.

So sad. I know of others who have lived similar lives. Extremely expressive and emotionally written. In the end you are free of what used to bind you. Often that does not relieve your pain.

God Bless!

We can do so much damage by doing nothing.
There is no manual on parenting. Children dont come with instruction books, and we cant reboot our errors. We all learned by doing, and visited our failures on our children.
This is a sad tale, but its ending gives us hope.
GRIEF ENDS ULTIMATELY WITH THIS HANDFUL OF DIRT I DROP. My favorite line--the promise of a new beginning. Let us hope.
