It wasn*t a lie
When she said our dreams
Had slipped on by
You seem to forget
What you*ll never get
Dreams and hopes may get you by
Help you to cope
But in the end
We all walk a downward slope
You only get what you give
So few dreams left for us to live
Time has never been too kind
Sometimes you just make do
With what you find

I believe I am seeing the best writing from James Stockdale, to date, on this site!

VERY well done, my friend.

James..this is excellent both in the concept and the execution. Concise but with a day dreamy
philosophical edge. You haven/'/t minced words to say your piece!
A pleasure to read and I completely agree..sometimes we takes what we gets!
Fortunately for us, what you give is wonderful reading!

while I post a comment on your unique
poem entitled time
I agree with what you say here,
"we all walk a downward slope
You only get what you give"
At any age you might just make do
with what you find,
or possibly later on you might have none of that,
But it is never a race, if it could ever be done
right. A slow procession even if you have not too
much time at a young age, might be better
than living to be a hundred years of more.

I used to disavow myself from teaching fearing
the groups who would come and go, all that youth
while I grew old.

But I was wrong more than once in my own
life I know for sure.

Thanks James!
as this poem carries forth one heck of a lot of wisdom with few words required.

Peace!

//

// Sometimes you just make do with what you find //

You never know, // that // may just turn out to be God giving what you need // and // what you want.

Sometimes at the end of that downwards slope is a goldmine.

Thank you,

Dugan
