I lay quite in the dead of night
I pray the monster will pass me by
I don’t know how much longer I can fight
I pray the monster will pass me by

I pull the covers up to my chin
I pray the monster will pass me by
I look towards the door as fear creeps in
I pray the monster will pass me by

I see the doorknob as it turns
I pray the monster will pass me by
I see the shadow say “it’s your turn”
I pray the monster will pass me by

I run to the closet and lock the door
I pray the monster will pass me by
The door bursts open as I fall to the floor
I pray the monster will pass me by

It picks me up and throws me to the bed
I pray the monster will pass me by
Now I think I’m better off dead
I pray the monster will pass me by

I get up in the morning and I try not to cry
Maybe tonight the monster will pass me by
I pretend every thing is normal as the day goes by
Maybe tonight the monster will pass me by

This poem is really catchy, your repeated line just fits in everywhere. Its kind of hard to tell if its written as a nieve child, but somehow I think the childhood fright is symbolic for a persecutor. Amazing good poem, though.

ya it was cool how you wrote it with the childlike view of it all. its painful to read it almost. you did a really good job.
