I hear you say you’re leaving
I’m trying so hard to grasp and understand that this time it is for real
I see it. I hear you tell me then repeat it

I’m struggling with knowing that your love for me is gone
I don’t know how to just turn it of...
It’s been there for years...
Even though I’ve made mistakes
I never stopped loving you
I was just so lost in life

I won’t deny why you feel this way.
I know I did this.
I know there’s nothing but this sadness I’ve made
By holding on so tightly, to someone who’s letting go

I don’t know how to stop loving you
I never figure out how to make it go away
I never understood how not let it affect me
I don’t know how to be as strong as you

I am sorry that I failed.
I know it’s my fault
My frailty and cowardice
My shortcomings
How weak I am
Everything I lack to make you happy
It’s me...

The biggest part of it all I realize
The hardest pill to swallow
Isn’t knowing that I created this misery which has been eating me upside...
It’s knowing that I’m the one who broke your dreams...

I’m so sorry

Wow. Takes your breath away. I was actually holding mine as I read it, waiting for it to take another turn, but instead it kept its cadence and became more and more personal and sincere.
I felt as if I were eavesdropping on a conversation I was not meant to overhear.
Splendidly written.

Your poem is most admirable. I can see myself saying some of these words. I hope things work out in your relationship.
