he was a sailor, home from the sea,
and all his time was given to me.

my myriad stories,
all of my fears;
the dreams and plans
poured into his ears.

he took it all in,
gave it its due
prompted me further,
until it felt true.

yet ever so often,
I would see in his gaze
the looks cast as anchors
to turquoise waves.

he was a sailor, home from the sea,
and all his love was given to me.

deep kisses of passion,
caresses of skin;
love at its heights
and the depths of its sin.

but in the darkest of morn,
before day has its start,
I sensed the yearning
that stirred his true heart.

he was a sailor, gone to the sea
and for all of my heartache,
it was where he should be.

There will always be those that are drawn uncontrollably to the sea, like a mistress that calls from the deep.
You/'/ve echoed this brilliantly here.
Nice write

Steve

A lovely tale that reads like a rocking chair conversation. It is both romantic and philosophical.
We are what we are as your sailor proves, as he steps down for a moment from his reality to wear anothers dream.
Your beautiful story entices us to step out of ourselves and look back; to take stock; to nourish our dreams. Most inspiring, and well written.

Hi Spikey me ol cobber!! Long time no speak.
Loved this piece and written in your own unique way - no words used where they are not useful - short, sharp, and to the point. /'//'/deep kisses of passion, caresses of skin; love at its heights and the depths of its sin./'//'/ A gamut of human emotions contained therein. Power to your pen, spike!

You effectively convey that feeling, that I want you but I know I have to let you go feeling. Great ending to an overall awesome poem!
