won`t you take my hand?
you just pass me by
I am quiet
won`t you ask me why?
you keep passing by

I have grown
and pushed you away
and you push right back
I go silent
I make my own way
and you don`t come back

I found love
kept reaching for hands
they all passed me by
I lashed out
then begged them to stay
they kept passing by

I`m alone
pushed the world away
and it pushed me back
I am static
stuck in my own rut
and no one comes back

but you call
and I`m small again
I remember it all
I am scared
that you`ll ask me why
why I passed you by

little girls
only reach for hands
and they notice when
it`s not noticed
so they go alone
it`s hard to come back

I am small
will you take my hand
or keep passing by?
I am quiet
can I ask you why
you always passed by? [comments] => 4 [counter] => 169 [topic] => 23 [informant] => MoonlitAngel [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => FamilyPoems )

Tender and heart wrenching. A reminder that we all overlook the quiet and shy ones. We are too busy putting out fires to see the beauty around us.
Your lovely poem leaves me wondering what I have missed.

The homeless can be small, reaching out a hand not always for a hand out but maybe a little conversation or someone to say yep, I see ya, you count too.

I think to feel this way,
earnestly to feel as though
you were small,

would someone feel
to feel spread out
until nothing is left
of themself

is love

you or anyone
would ever imagine

yet it has
given so much
possibly rash at times

seemingly as though
it has nothing to
ever impart

though it is so true

you remind me
of the many genuine
people I have been
lucky enough to know
with your poem

if one is lucky enough
just once, they say

this is beautiful,
" I am small
will you take my hand
or keep passing by?
I am quiet
can I ask you why
you always passed by?"

And I should wonder
what alone means,
or what quiet means
or what smallness
brings

to anyone.

Peace!
