All humanity, a breath beneath my feet
But all I hear is the sound of wings
Soaring through a time where past and future meet.

The sky is like the ocean field,
We navigate along the stoic straits
But grow lost in time and course
Without a footprint left upon its face.

The world knows my name
For staring up the wall of fear
And daring to ascend
Between the clouds and stars.

I am immortalized but my blood will surely spill
Upon the ancient arms of earth,
Arms that raised me high in flight
And now will wait to catch this earthly bird.

Static radio transmissions are faint, then lost
And my fuel has dwindled to defiant fumes;
Somewhere down there the dolphins dream
Upon the weeping sea of relic tombs.

I flew to touch the feet of God
And view His work from high above the trees,
I climbed the wall of fear, and now the other side
Is birth beyond the deathly seas.

I love the title. So many wonderful images herein.
EARTHLY BIRD; DEFIANT FUMES; RELIC TOMBS; WITHOUT A FOOTPRINT LEFT UPON ITS FACE...
Original thinking and strong concepts expressed in this tale that conjures up what it must be like to fly over DEATHLY SEAS.
You have put us all in the last moments of a most honored skyraker today. A fitting tribute.
