[hometext] => We think too much...
[bodytext] => Age is just a state of mind; A mental sort of voo-do.
I seldom share my age because: I don’t change, -- but YOU do!
I don’t know why it works this way; but test it anyhow:
Ill be 74 this year; Do I seem different? Wow.
-------------------------------------------
Rich or poor, old or young; black or white, I trust;
All share the same phenomenon;
This nonsense prejudice.
Doesnt matter that you know me;
(Im still the same and yet);
MOST people we pre-judge are folks;
We havent even met!
Now that makes them the victims; And we the perpetrators;
Good thing the internet is blind; it sure works in our favor!
We cant see wheelchairs, scars or age; hear accents that belabor.
Until of course we go outside and have to face the neighbors.
The next time you see pulled down pants, blue hair or piercings, blink:
That could be your best friend on line;
OMG! Ya think?

Thinking too much is a special kind of evil.
It will kill you, reward you with apprehension, fear, and anxiety. Not to mention many other woes.
I suspect many here including myself wouldn/'/t share as much on here if we knew each other as neighbors. Sometimes being anonymous has its perks.
Always an insightful and inspiring read from a youthful and vibrant seventy-four year old. I knew, but your writing never gives it away.
And if it did, it would not vanish the excellence.
As usual, another great write. |

A poem of truth. You look like you/'/re my age in your photo (51). Age is a mental sort of voodoo.
Your poetry is ageless and I always see your smile when reading your work.

A primordial fear makes us pre judge
It is what we humans do,
and
as someone already said
being anonymous has its perks. |

Noice, unusual, different.
Online contact is ultimately misleading because it is so incomplete. It/'/s as ephemeral as the breeze, as deep as a petrie dish, and we fill that space where direct contact used to be with all kinds of imaginings and judgements.
Now, where did I leave my wheelchair and Aussie Strine...?

What a fine nuance you have captured here! How very true. And ya/'/ know? I don/'/t like it. I want to know who I communicate with and share. Oddly, on this site (and it being this site is NOT the oddity), we share so freely precisely because those we share with are strangers. Only when those nameless faceless poets become attached to a name or face do we begin to hold back, as if top share the /'/real us/'/ is no longer a safe proposition. Kind of like an AA meeting where you go every week and find the same faces, week in week out. Anonymity is lost. |
