You only get a little bit,

The springtime fountain will flow, then quit.

 We are young for just one song,

And that/'/s not very long.

We cry and smile as the sundial

Shows its shadow for a while.

We look back before the night was black

And see our salad days on youthful track.

Summer winds blow, past the youth we use to know;

A hand full of decades become a faded glow.

Naïve hours came and went

And now we clench the haunting scent

Of the vernal blossom spryly spent.

We are reminded that life is not eternal! Nor is youth. We feel the sting of this truth in middle age; make peace with it in our 70s, and happily blissfully ignore it in our 20s. You have written something for every age reader of the vernal blossom spent!
Take a deep bow as the curtain closes, and enjoy every moment of the applause. Your garden is in full vibrant bloom and you write with an old soul who has come back to teach us.

This was beautifully written.
I/'/m coming to terms with this now.
It/'/s like the last 20 years just blew in like a strong wind and then they were gone.....
Awesome write.
